Similar to Every Brilliant Thing, the Key Jar exercise is a way of opening up conversation and connection, helping people get to know new things about each other. The Key Jar can also highlight the beauty of questions, and the value of being curious.
Questions are typed on card and placed in a jar, with a large enough opening for people to place their hand in and select a card. The person is invited to select a card, read out and answer the question. If after seeing the question they would prefer not to answer it, they replace it in the jar and select another one which they feel comfortable speaking about.
The Where and When
- As an opening round at a meeting
- Jar could be left in lounge, or other communal spaces for visitors and residents to use
